The Studio School of Speech and Drama: The Studio Story (4)

Trinity College London offers a choice of qualifications for students of drama and speech subjects, at all levels of experience and ability. It provides a structured framework designed to encourage the progressive development of integrated performance and communication skills over time. Solo and pair graded exams and diplomas are fully accredited in the UK and recognised internationally in many other countries.

Exams can be taken by individuals, pairs or groups. Study strands include Speech and Drama, Individual Acting Skills, Group Performance, Shakespeare, Choral Speaking, Communication Skills, Musical Theatre and Performance Arts.

Candidates enjoy free choice of repertoire in all examinations.

The Studio School of Speech and Drama’s status as a Trinity College London Registered Exam Center, and our incorporation of the Trinity Stars certificate programme is crucial to giving students a chance to become accustomed to performing for new audiences.

Drama is all about communication, and drama and speech training – properly conceived – is the fine art of communication boiled down to its quintessence. It is about far more than learning the technicalities of voice projection, modulation, pausing, pitch and volume control – although these of course play a vital role in any rigorous speech and acting programme; it is about learning to mine the inner most recesses of the intellect and emotions to present a true authentic self to others. In a very basic and foundational way, the preparation and performance for Trinity Stars give students the beginnings of this education.
