SSSD: The Healing Power of the Stage
- by Studio International
On and off stage: The Studio Story (3)
Every one of us acts in a theatre called "life"
As a child, a classmate, a student, a colleague
A friend, a partner, a spouse, a parent...
We love many roles whole-heartedly
And act spontaneously
We put up with certain roles with ground teeth
We endure a number of roles with perseverance and grit
We loath other roles with thinly veiled fatigue and distaste
We neglect a few roles and let things slip...
Sometimes we are loved unconditionally
No matter how awful we are
Sometimes we are hurt cruelly
Despite our best efforts to play our part
Yes you can always escape to
Where nobody knows you...
But my friend,
An outsider's role is always harder than you imagined
And, do you really want to land
On a Lord of the Flies island?
The only true escape my friend --
Is the stage and the theatre
Where you can for once not be yourself
And live someone else's life
Choose the character carefully
The healing is magic
You will be refreshed and reinvigorated
And go back to your life's theatre
And continue to act
But with more confidence and flair
