Junior English: Level Two
Ages 4 to 5
On this Level Two course students will continue to explore the world of spoken and written English in a text and literacy rich environment. Students will improve their ability to read using phonics, learning about long vowels, blended and double letter consonants, double letter vowels and tricky words. They will also encounter and practice recognizing 50 high frequency ‘Sight Reading’ words. From there, children will begin progressing on a personalized reading program.
Children enrolled on this course will begin to study texts in more depth and begin to create written responses to what they have read. They will gain a deeper understanding of the stories through dramatic play and retelling. The class will perform a play based on a book they have studied. Students will learn, recite and create poetry.
