Junior English: Level Three

Ages 5 to 6

On this Level Three course students will continue to explore the world of spoken and written English in a text and literacy rich environment. The focus of this course is to improve reading comprehension, fluency, reading speed and stamina.

Students will explore concepts of genre and authorship and begin to understand simple literary devices and narrative structures. Using the phonic awareness they have, they will begin an integrated, personalized reading program based around their current reading level and interests.

Children will also develop their sight reading skills. Students on this course will respond to the books they have read using a range of writing styles, drama, art and speech. Students will read and perform poetry, plays and role plays.
